This past weekend we hit the "lowcountry" a.k.a. Charleston, S.C. for some fun at Eye Level Art for Holy City Artists & Fleas. I get so many questions from people about where I get my glasses. Personally most of my frames have been purchased throughout my travels. I've come across a few stores that sell hot vintage frames but none come close to Vintage Frames Company! Owner, Corey Shapiro, and staff are so serious about vintage eyewear. Not only do they provide you with the sickest inventory I've seen, but also a thorough history about each frame they sell. Their passion is paramount. I was checking out etsy this morning to find my next vintage/indie superstar and I immediately came across Two String Jane. Usually I like to do my own thang when it comes to features (she's featured on the main page of etsy today) but these studded half cowboy boots had me sold! Alyssa Zuckas, the designer, has worked with stores such as Urban Outfitters and musicians such as Nikka Costa. A self- taught designer, Zuckas enjoys working with various media that she decribes as "wearable, pairable and bold." She's definitely someone I'll keep an eye on. Last week I had the pleasure of hearing Cameron Silver of Decades, Inc. speak about his entry and experience with the vintage business, so very inspiring! For those of you who aren't familiar with Decades you need to check them out. The LA based vintage boutique is synonymous with timeless style and glamour! It's the goto vintage boutique for celebs and the "ladies who lunch." I know my Rebirther's like to be glamorous but in an "edgy" kinda way, well Cameron hasn't left us out. I hit up the AmericasMart last week to check out a fashion show and I ended up meeting a very cool lady who has a line of apparel and accessories made from the aluminum pull tabs on soda cans! I love to help promote "sustainable" fashion! It's an awesome feeling when you can purchase something cute and help out with the environment! I must admit though sometimes it's hard to pull off. I was to say the least, amazed at how beautiful her pieces were. Her line is called Walleska ecochicc. Check it out! I promise these pictures don't do it justice!

Ladies check out this vintage Aries Enid Collins box bag from the 60's. I did a little research on Enid and here's what I found.

"Collins of Texas opened its doors in Medina, Texas in 1959, producing whimsical, happy handbags. Enid Collins, owner and designer, operated the company until 1970, when it was purchased by the Tandy Leather Corporation. The Collins company primarily made two types of bags - wooden box purses, and canvas bucket style bags. Each purse was hand decorated with paint, sequins and rhinestones in themed designs. Never intended to be fad creations, Enid Collins finished all of her handbags with leather trim, mirrors, brass findings and fasteners. They were intended to be good quality, fun day bags. I was looking through the pics from Paris Spring 2010 fashion week and noticed one designer (Giles Deacon) had these insanely cute dinosaur handbags on his runway. According to Urban Outfitter's blog the dinosaur bags have gone into production, so I'll keep you posted on them. However, yesterday I saw on one of my favorite vintage site's (Nasty Gal) a handbag in the shape of a cat. Although I'm not a cat lover I do think this is cute! Ladies the adorable factor here is ridiculous! Julia Bristow creates some of the most fabulous beaded necklaces I've seen! My favorite are her fruit and bib necklaces. All fruit jewelry is made with Czech glass fruit beads, glass or gemstone round beads, with individually hand-woven glass grape clusters. Each fruit necklace is unique.
